In the 1980s, Ms. Olga Pierce saw the opportunity to create personal concierge service, which at that time was only available in luxury hotels, and make it available to busy professionals of all kinds. Founded in 1982, CUI became the birthplace of the private and corporate concierge industry.
The office of a Concierge dates from the 12th century. The name originated from la Conciergerie, where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned. She entrusted her palace keys to a concierge, traditionally known as “keeper of the keys,” whose main role was to deliver and send messages. Overtime, the word concierge became more commonly known as a hotel staff member who assisted guests with luggage, delivered messages and made dining reservations.
