2019 Chicago Marathon, Sunday October 13
2019 Chicago Marathon
The 2019 Chicago Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 13. This event has historically attracted 45,000 runners from more than 100 countries. An estimated 1.7 million spectators are expected to view the race along the route that traverses 29 Chicago neighborhoods. The Marathon will begin with wheel chair participants at approximately 7:20 a.m, the main start is at 7:30 a.m. Additional security and bag checks will be in effect at key event locations. All Marathon staff and volunteers will be in uniform and credentialed.
Marathon Day Schedule – Sunday, October 13
Spectators will not have access to the race start and finish areas within Grant Park on race day. These areas will be accessible only to participants displaying their event-issued bib numbers, event staff with proper credentials, and ticketed guests (where applicable).

5:30 a.m. – Gear check opens
5:30 a.m. – Start corrals open
7:20 a.m. – Wheelchair Start (men)
7:21 a.m. – Wheelchair Start (women)
7:22 a.m. – Handcycle Start
7:23 a.m. – Athletes with Disabilities Start
7:30 a.m. – Wave 1 Start
8:00 a.m. – Wave 2 Start
8:35 a.m. – Wave 3 Start
9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.- Biofreeze 27th Mile Post-Race Party; Grant Park, Butler Field

Street Closures and Secured Areas
Street closures around Grant Park will begin on the morning of Thursday, October 10 and continue through the morning of Monday, October 14.

An informative website, including a listing of where the public can view the race as well as what areas will be restricted, is available at http://www.chicagomarathon.com.
