European Easter Egg Tree

A centuries old tradition that began in Germany and carried over into other neighboring countries such as: Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Moravia, Hungary, and the Ukraine. The tradition was also carried over to the United States by the Pennsylvania Dutch. The largest Ostereierbaum or Easter Egg Tree was consistently maintained for 50 years (1965-2015) by Mr. Volker Kraft, in Saalfeld, Thuringia, which held over 10,000 hand decorated eggs. In 2017, a pecan tree in Pomerode, Santa Catarina, Brazil, held the Guinness World Record for having over 80,000 hand painted hen eggs!
